Number of years orienteering
I have been orienteering for 4 years, since 2018.
How were you introduced to orienteering?
Kaye Griffiths from school (Pinehurst) got Mum to come to an event and Mum thought I would enjoy it.
Key orienteering achievements to date
Achievements: 1st AKSS Sprint Series 2021, 3rd Club Nationals Long 2021, 2nd NZSS Sprint 2021, 2nd NISS Sprint, 2nd NISS Long, 1st overall, combined results from NISS.
Current orienteering project or goal
I would love to successfully compete at red 4 and place in the top 10 in my age group nationally.
What's your favourite orienteering map and why
One of my current favourite maps is Mairetahi Forest in South Head where we competed for AOS 2 this year. It was a lovely area with a nice combination of green and white forest as well as open grass areas. My other favourite would be The Rockery, (Onewhero) where we competed for the Junior Camp last year. As much as I do not like farmland this place was amazing with the huge boulders and interesting features as well the beautiful view.
Name a map you have yet to experience but aspire to orienteer on
I would like to orienteer on the Nelson map from nationals this year as I was unwell and able to compete.
Who is your orienteering hero
I look up to Tegan Knightbridge, she has been apart of my orienteering journey since the beginning and supporting me as I grew.
What's your day job?
I am a student.
What are your interests outside orienteering?
I have limited other interests as school, work (local cafe) and orienteering/training keep me busy, but I love to be social.
